We are absolutely thrilled about the exciting opportunities that this year presents for all students involved in the Music Programs at Esperance Senior High School. We believe that this year’s activities will foster creativity, collaboration, and a love for music among our participants. With a shift of the Music Office, we have a great space for lessons and band. We are officially kicking off the year with the launch of our bands and instrumental lessons in Week 3.

We are very happy to welcome back Roslyn Woodhouse to our music teaching staff! Roslyn will be instructing flute and vocal music lessons. We’re also excited to introduce Geoff Collins, who will be conducting brass lessons and leading the Senior Stage Band. Jemma Donovan will continue to guide the Guitar Ensemble and teach Contemporary and Classical Guitar, as well as Bass Guitar and Percussion. Lastly, we have Brett Watchorn directing our Concert Band, teaching clarinet and saxophone lessons here at Esperance SHS, and teaching all instrumental lessons at Castletown Primary, Esperance Primary and Nulsen Primary.

Instrumental lessons are offered through Instrumental Music School Services, providing a wonderful chance for young learners to enhance and broaden their academic achievements. These lessons develop instrumental skills, but also build confidence, general performance skills, collaboration and creativity – all while creating harmonious music together, and (hopefully) enjoying the experience.

Our Bands always need more members – the more the merrier. Staff are also welcome to give it a go… 😉

Esperance SHS Band Schedule:

Tuesday 3:10-4:00 – Concert Band Rehearsal

Tuesday 4:00-5:00 – Senior Stage Band Rehearsal

Wednesday 3:10-4:10 – Guitar Ensemble Rehearsal

We invite any interested students who are not currently involved in Music to join us or to have a conversation to explore whether Music and/or learning an instrument might be the right match for them. We are especially looking for those interested in venturing into the wonderful world of woodwind (flute, clarinet and saxophone) and brass (trumpet, horn and trombone).
