Focus on Year 10 Jewellery

Year 10 Jewellery students have been making laminated timber jewellery items for their first task. Students have learned about incorporating a range of design elements and principles when laminating their timber to assist in creating interest in their jewellery items. These include incorporating contrasting colours, repetition of patterns, and lines and curves.  Once the laminated timber blank has been produced, students then shape their piece to suit their design requirements.

Focus on Year 10 Photography

Year 10 Photography students have been creating panoramic images and photospheres for their first task. Students have first learned about DSLR camera settings for landscape photography, and have applied this knowledge to photograph a range of outdoor images. They have then used Adobe Photoshop to merge their photos together and produce both a panoramic photomerge image, and a photosphere. In addition, students have been practicing presentation skills to print and mount their final images.

Focus on Year 10 Construction

Year 10 students in Construction have been working in teams to produce a scale model shed frame. Working in their teams, students have measured and cut all the components for the wall frames, before assembling them flat, as would be done on-site. Once all the wall frames have been made, they then mark out the floor plan, before standing up the wall frames and assembling the roof trusses. Through completing this task, students have also been learning all the correct terminology for the wall frame components.

Focus on Year 9 Woodwork

Year 9 students in Woodwork have been working from plans to produce a jewellery box. Through this task students have been introduced to a range of woodworking equipment and techniques, as well as materials and processes for finishing timber. Additionally, students have had the opportunity to incorporate some laser engraving, or resin art to their work to enhance interest of the finished product.
