Country Week 2026

Esperance Senior High School proudly took part in SHS Country Week 2026, joining secondary schools from across regional Western Australia for a week of competition, teamwork and school spirit in Perth.

Held from 29 June to 3 July, the annual School Sport WA carnival brought together country schools to compete across a wide range of sports and activities, including basketball, AFL, hockey, soccer, netball, volleyball, indoor cricket, touch football, dance, speech and debating. Esperance Senior High School entered eight teams, placing the school in Tier 2 of the 2026 competition.

For students, Country Week is about much more than the final score. It provides an opportunity to represent their school, develop their sporting skills and build friendships with students from other regional communities. The experience also encourages students to demonstrate resilience, leadership, teamwork and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Travelling from Esperance to Perth makes participation an especially valuable experience. Students step outside their usual school environment and embrace the challenge of competing against some of the best school teams from across the state. Whether celebrating a hard-fought win, learning from a tough loss or supporting teammates from the sidelines, every moment contributes to the Country Week experience.

Esperance Senior High School has a proud history at the carnival, having previously claimed the Champion School award in 2008. The school’s continued participation reflects its commitment to providing students with opportunities to achieve personal excellence through sport and extracurricular activities.

Country Week 2026 was another chance for ESHS students to wear the school colours with pride, challenge themselves and create memories that will last well beyond the week. The dedication of students, coaches, staff and supporters made the trip possible and helped showcase the strong community spirit that Esperance Senior High School is known for.
