Washed Up – A 2026 ESHS Production
A large cast of ESHS young performers are currently hard at work rehearsing this year’s school production, Washed Up, which will be staged at the Civic Centre in August.
This original new show promises to be highly entertaining with its cast of memorable characters. The story is set on an isolated island where the locals must deal with a series of challenges that ‘wash up’.
The cast of 38 students from years 7-12 have been working with Director Lyndel Taylor since March in preparation for the show which Ms Taylor wrote to showcase our students’ talents.

“The cast members are having a lot of fun in rehearsals as they bring the script to life. It’s great to see students’ confidence, teamwork and acting, singing and dancing skills developing,” Ms Taylor said.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get out of the classroom and develop a range of performance skills. And their work ethic and focus are outstanding.”
The ESHS production is generously supported by Esperance Civic Centre and Esperance Theatre Guild.
“It is inspiring for the students to be able to work in a real theatre. While some cast members have been part of previous successful ESHS productions such as The Next Big Thing or Midsummer Night’s Dream, for many this is their stage debut,” Ms Taylor said.
The cast will present a special matinee show on Friday, August 7 for local primary schools, and public show on Saturday, August 8. Tickets available soon.

A highlight of the performance was Anne’s performance of Bizet’s ‘L’amour est un oiseau rebelle’ from the French opera Carmen. Anne taught those attending the performance how to sing the chorus in French along with Anne.
Local photographer Dan Paris displayed stunning captures of the Esperance region, which at times aligned perfectly with the music – dolphins jumping out of waves as Ingrid and Anne jumped from note to note. Dan also spoke about his journey from growing up in Esperance to developing a career as an actor and photographer.
