This term all Year Seven and Nine students will be participating in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). Detailed information on NAPLAN 2024 can be found in the 2025 NAPLAN information for parents and carer brochure.
A NAPLAN practise test will be held in Week 4. This is not assessed and allows students to familiarise themselves with the test platform and the functions available to them. You can also practise with your child at home by accessing the NAP – Public demonstration site.
Each student will participate in four (4) NAPLAN tests; dates and test subjects are written below.
A more detailed schedule will be available soon.
Date | Test and duration | Test duration and description |
Wednesday 12th March | Writing (42 min) | Students are provided with an idea or topic called a writing stimulus (or prompt) and asked to write a response in a particular genre (narrative or persuasive writing) |
Thursday 13th March | Reading (65 min) | Students read a range of informative, imaginative and persuasive texts, and then answer related questions. |
Friday 14th March | Conventions of Language (45 min) | Students are assessed on spelling, grammar and punctuation |
Monday 17th March | Numeracy (65 min) | Students are assessed on number and algebra, measurement and geometry, and statistics and probability. |
Adjustments are provided to students with disability to support access to the tests and encourage maximum participation. Extra time and rest breaks are the most common adjustments made. These are usually granted if they are a part of a student’s regular teaching and learning experience. More information about available adjustments can be found here.
