This term in HASS, students in years 7 – 9 have been immersed in learning History. From Ancient times to the Modern era, we have crammed a lot in! Our students continue to amaze us with their deep thinking, creativity, and interest in the world around them. HASS is not only about the content and the dates but also about being able to develop lifelong skills. The creation of medieval castles, gladiator helmets and shields, and catapults provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents.

Throughout week 9, we have been celebrating all things HASS with HASS Week. The daily riddle, Lego building competition, and the Amazing Race have given the students the opportunity to participate in HASS in different ways and demonstrate their communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

The Amazing Race gave students the chance to demonstrate their understanding of the four HASS subjects (Civics and Citizenship, Geography, Economics, and History) through a series of challenges, roadblocks, and detours. Winning teams were those that managed to successfully navigate the eight challenges – from catapult building, identifying countries, recognising the past Prime Ministers, and the responsibilities of each level of government.

Extra special thanks to Mx Kitson, who led the HASS team in creating such an action-packed and fun event.
