We’ve had a spruce up! Our new shelving project is nearing completion and looking great. At a more suitable height for our students, the new shelving allows easier browsing of the collection, and with the added benefit of wheels, we can change the library space as needed. We have also added a graphic novel feature wall displaying the latest additions to this popular collection. With just new signage left to add, we are looking forward to finishing off this big project.
The library continues to host the After School Study Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays for any students who wish to stay and study. With tasty afternoon tea and warm Milo provided, the library is a peaceful space to work in, open until 5 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We encourage students preparing for exams to take advantage of the quiet space and extra support from the teachers who pop in to help with study.
In support of National Reconciliation Week, staff and students have created a display in the library space inspired by this year’s artwork and theme, Bridging Now to Next. Both ESHS students and visiting primary school students shared how they support reconciliation now and into the future by creating a leaf and adding it to our ‘Reconciliation Journey Tree’.
Next term brings our favourite time of year…Book Week; a special week to celebrate all that we love about reading. We are already busy planning, keep a lookout for the great activities and adventures we have planned.
With the weather cooling off, it’s a good time to delve into a great read. With a regular supply of new books arriving, we encourage students to pop into the library before school, during lunch, or after school and borrow a bundle of books. Library staff are always happy to recommend a great read or help find something that takes your interest.
