The Arts at ESHS is always a bustling place and we hit the ground running this year with workshops for our year 7 & 8 Visual Arts students from visiting artist Alex Desebrock. Students helped to create a ‘Forest of Important Trees’ at the Cannery Arts Centre for the ‘Tree Listen’ Exhibition that was on in March.
We wanted to take this time to put out a very advanced ‘SAVE THE DATE’ card for all parents and friends for many of our upcoming events that are slated in The Arts this year.
The Next Big Thing – our school Production this year will be at the Civic Centre with Primary Schools viewing (likely) on 2 July and the Community Performance on Thursday Night 3 July.
Lester Prize Exhibition 6 June-20 July 2025 – The winner of the $50,000 Lester Prize Ben Howe will be in Esperance to do workshops with our classes and we will have excursions to the Cannery for students to view the exhibition.
Esperance Music Festival (EMF) – will have 2 shows we are told this year. Solo, Duet and Small Groups will perform at the SDA Hall (as in past years) – in the 3rd week of August and we will have many performers there. We will also be participating in the first Large Ensemble Showcase put on by the EMF in early Term 4 (just after the Esperance Show), where ALL of our Ensembles will perform, AND we are planning a special performance just for this show that we are very excited to unveil.
In preparation for these performances, we are planning a couple of days of practise and workshopping out and about in the community so again, keep watching for further information.
AND
ESHS Exhibition returns this year at Cannery Arts Centre and will be on from 4th-10th Nov. After a break of a couple of years we are very excited to show all the amazing work our students do all year. We might even have our new Kiln by then so be on the lookout for the ceramics works.
As always, all information for parents and students can be found on Connect or from your child’s teacher. We are very happy to answer any questions and look forward to seeing many of you at all these exciting events.
